An ongoing effort of process improvement
At Ansys quality awareness is part of an ongoing effort of process improvement. Ansys achieved ISO 9001 accreditation in 1999 for engineering services, system design, software development, hardware development, production and sourcing of industrial products.
Quality Management System
Ansys’ quality management system (QMS) comprises a number of interrelated tools used during day-to-day design, development, testing and procurement activities.
PRACAS
A Problem Reporting And Corrective Action System (PRACAS) is used to give visibility to process problems and to facilitate the tracking of corrective action. The system is designed to “close the loop” between the two, which is a major shortcoming in most Quality Systems. Problem reports and corrective action tasks are assigned through e-mail, and continuous updates are sent to the QA department automatically. The PRACAS includes built-in control of ECPs, Deviations, Waivers and Modification instructions, and it is also marketed as a quality of service improvement tool to other companies.
Configuration Control
A unique counter is maintained for each CI record. Various CI types can be selected, as well as the issue status. Provision is included for external CM system numbering. “Nesting” of referenced documents (for update impact assessment) is incorporated. Hardware serial numbers and next higher assemblies can be traced. Support for various development phases as well as production.
Procedures
Company personnel follow standardised procedures for common tasks. This approach simplifies the compilation of manufacturing instructions and inspection.
Software
Ansys’ software engineers are familiar with the discipline required to write embedded code in accordance with RTCA-DO178, including formal unit level testing as well as modular software on PC platforms.
ACCREDITATIONS
Ansys is ISO-9001 accredited. Accreditation has been granted to Ansys by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and the Dutch Council for Accreditation in respect of:
- Engineering Services;
- System Design;
- Software Development;
- Hardware Development;
- Production;
- Sourcing of Industrial products.
Accredited scope sectors:
- Electrical and optical equipment;
- Information Technology.
The certificate number is LS 2433.
Ansys is an accredited ARMSCOR contractor
ARMSCOR is responsible for the acquisition of products and services for the South African National Defence Force. The accreditation certificate number is 1421.
Ansys is an approved supplier to:
- TDA, an international supplier of Rocket systems including various types of rocket launchers and rockets;
- The THALES/DAIMLER-CHRYSLER AEROSPACE joint venture.
